SPRING ARRIVES EARLY IN 2009
This morning a band of snow flurries graced certain sections (of the eastern section) of the Northeastern states with about 1-2 inches of white fluffy snow flakes that gently rested on the tops of trees and shrubs all over the eastern New York, New Jersey area. It was a blessing in disguise - a solemn reminder that winter is over giving us a glimpse of what it used to be. For anyone who went outside to see the snow this morning, it was the type of snow fall that is an artist's dream - large puffy snow flakes that made picture perfect renditions everywhere you turn, giving one very little time to capture winter's fading images. Mother Nature could have been really mean to us on this glorious Spring Day, but she wasn't.
Temperatures after all were above normal for this specific time of year.
By 11:00 AM this morning, of the one to two inches of fluffy snowy stuff that graced the eastern portions of the New York metropolitan area,
not one flake could been seen on the ground, except high up on the branches of some evergreen trees. By noon today, the snow fakes were all gone. By 1:00 PM, EST, the Sun burst through demanding recognition of the change of season that materialized before our very eyes. By 5:30 PM, EST blue skies dominated the heavens with patches of white clouds scattered throughout. By 6:46 PM under setting Sun, not a cloud could be seen in the sky.
Day light saving time started on March 22, 2009, which means that sunset today at 7:07 PM is equivalent to 6:07 PM standard time. On the Vernal Equinox, this gives us near equal day and night, especially for points near the earth's Equator.
In ancient cultures, this was a time of great celebration and revelry - the start of a New Year! The Egyptians however favored the summer solstice as the start of the New Year for different reasons having more to do with the rising of the star Sirius and the annual flooding of the Nile, that is now dammed cutting off that river's natural life force and energy on which that culture depend.
With temperatures at a brisk, cool and near cold 45º Fahrenheit under mostly sunny skies, reaching 48º in some New York and New Jersey areas, it can now be declared that this after all is a Great Spring Day!
Spring is on its way!
Onto great weather for much of this Spring-like week and week-end. Crocuses are in full bloom in New York and New Jersey and for much of the Northeastern states, and we hope in the MidWest as well that is experiencing somewhat cooler temperatures. Tulips, daffodils and hyacinths have burst through the ground in the Northeast getting ready for a Spring-like parade of the stars. Forsythia buds are maturing as well threatening to spread their golden wings within the next few days to publicly announce the official arrival of Spring long before March comes to an end in about 13 days time. Temperatures this week have been topping 50º fahrenheit in the Northeast, reaching and at times exceeding 60º fahrenheit as well.

Temperatures soar today to the high 40s on the eastern sea board. The MidWest is now seeing temperatures in the 70s. Temperatures this weekend have been forecasted in the 70s for much of the USA from west coast to east, north to south. According to the Weather Channel
, you will not be able to find cold air anywhere in the US over this weekend. Our January 14, 2009 (see below)
mid-winter prediction of an Early Spring for 2009
has arrived and has been fulfilled. At the time when we made the prediction on this web page
, it seemed nearly impossible
due to the deep unyielding frigid temperatures gripping the nation. We do not anticipate anymore snow falls or storms in the NorthEast USA, and expect flowers to be in full bloom by Spring Day, March 20, 2009
, which is highly unusual for the NorthEast USA.
Snows blankets Alabama, closes airports in Atlanta, Georgia and marches up to the Northeast, USA. See: Yahoo
While temperatures have been unseasonably warm in the NorthEast over the past few days reminding us that Spring is in the air, we should anticipate one more snow fall/storm before spring finally sets in.
Temperatures hit a high of 49 degrees (Fahrenheit) in the NorthEast USA on Sunday, February 1st to zoom to 51 degrees on Monday, February 2nd before returning to snow and winter weather conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 3-4, 2009. The Moon will trine its first Fire Sign (after Venus entered Aries on February 2, 2009) to lend support to Venus on Saturday, February 8, 2009 at about 6:30 AM EST, after which we expect the weather to change to more spring like conditions.*
As stated below: "temperatures shall start to rise to bring warm spring-like weather to portions of the Northeast, Mid-West and West Coast United States by mid-late February 2009, or as early as Monday, February 2, 2009, when the goddess Venus enters Aries in the Tropical Zodiac."
* - While this may be true for the Northeastern region of the USA on this date, it might not be so for the rest of the country [or world] for this date as well due to Venus' square to Lilith in Capricorn which quincunxes the Moon in Leo at 4 degrees. The square and quincunx means that some regions of the country will regret having this great weather while other areas will be taken by total surprise!
A major and historic winter storm
blast the Mid-West to NorthEast USA crippling the first half of the country causing up to 19 deaths and many road accidents, delays and power outages for thousands of residents in MidWestern states of Arkansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Ohio, Tennessee, Missouri and NorthEast states of Maryland, Washington, DC, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont all the way up to Maine causing significant delays at area airports extending up to 2 hours in New York and Philadelphia. Getting to work and school this morning is very treacherous all across the MidWest and NorthEast, USA.
As if all this bad winter weather is not enough, a mild earthquake measuring 3.4 magnitude shook Amber, Oklahoma this morning at 5:19 AM local time that was some 31 miles SouthWest of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Most people in Amber, Oklahoma perhaps slept through this mild shaker quake. See: USGS-DataSheet
We continue to project an Early Spring for 2009 that will bring a break to these blistering and stormy winter conditions very soon. Venus enters Aries next Monday, February 2, 2009 after which we expect the weather to go through dramatic changes to usher in an Early Spring for 2009 at least 2-3 weeks before the official start of Spring on March 20, 2009 at 7:32 AM EST. As stated below: "temperatures shall start to rise to bring warm spring-like weather to portions of the Northeast, Mid-West and West Coast United States by mid-late February 2009, or as early as Monday, February 2, 2009
, when the goddess Venus enters Aries
in the Tropical Zodiac."
According to the Chicago Tribune
, "A FedEx cargo plane crashed after veering off the runway in Lubbock, Texas, around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday (January 27, 2009). Although the FedEx plane caught on fire, the plane's two crew members walked away after the crash."
The National Weather Service
is projecting severe winter weather and icy conditions for the the next seven (7) days.
Hang in there!
Spring is definitely on its way long before the official start of Spring on March 20, 2009
, which is still some eight (8) winter weather weeks away. All this bad winter weather shall disappear very soon like magic and we shall move quickly to experience one of the best Springs on record in the MidWest and NorthEast USA with lots of flowers and great Spring weather. Spring fever is in the air - Venus
promises us a Great Spring for 2009, which shall arrive very soon!
Early spring-like weather arrives after Monday, February 2, 2009 to alleviate the very bad winter weather that has plagued much of the mid-west and northeast United States that started just before the start of the 2008-2009 winter season in November 2008. We are predicting an early start for the 2009 spring season 9 1/2 weeks before the official start of spring on March 20, 2009; 7:44 AM EST. Temperatures shall start to rise to bring warm spring-like weather to portions of the Northeast, Mid-West and West Coast United States by mid-late February 2009, or as early as Monday, February 2, 2009, when the goddess Venus enters Aries in the Tropical Zodiac. This great spring-like weather will occur across much of the United States from the west coast to the east. In fact, the west coast may experience unusually warm spring-like weather (approaching summer heat) that may cause the break out of unexpected forest fires in some areas.
